Director Capra went to work with typical Hollywood opulence. He bought the original manuscript, gave it to Scenarist Robert Riskin to rework, devised one of the most magnificent sets in cinema history. He had the good judgment to leave the story almost exactly as it was written and the skill to match Author Hilton's verbal talent with pictorial subtlety.
