Haiti's Marbial section was almost ideal for the experiment. Of its 26,000 inhabitants, three out of four can neither read nor write. They speak a Creole dialect of French, live in thatched huts with dirt floors, suffer from worms, decaying teeth, malaria and tuberculosis. A UNESCO expert, armed with films, books, posters and phonograph records, will work with a Haitian Government team to teach the fundamentals of hygiene, flood control, modern agriculture, the three Rs.
