Kirkland's first march to the goal was uninterrupted after Dunster's opening kickoff. The Kirkland quarterback, Wills, opened the path for Captain Wiley Mayno to scurry goalward. The point after touchdown failed. For the rest of the first quarter the Dunster eleven gave ground only slowly. The quarter ended as Dunster stopped two threatening end runs deep in their territory.
