Both these shells paddled up to the two-mile mark in stretches rowing about 28 strokes to the minute. At this point the second crew was given a length's start, and both crews settled down for a long stretch, Crew A rowing about 27 and the seconds working at a slighter higher stroke. At the three-fourths mile mark the first eight raised the stroke, but Crew B shot up a corresponding amount...

An eddy just before the finish almost lost the race for Crew B, but the superior drive of these men was too much for such a natural hindrance as an eddy, and University A finished a little more than a length in the rear...
Over at Gales Ferry more interesting happenings took place than for some few days. This morning the freshmen beat the junior eight by two lengths in a two-mile race. The wind was directly behind these crews, but at the mile mark the time was caught for 5 minutes 11 seconds, which is good time. The first crew was out on two regulation paddles today, and gave the best account of itself since the season started...
