Springfield Arsenal (rifles) during the Civil War, he invented the barber's clippers while later employed by Brown & Sharp, machinery manufacturers. After building naphtha launch engines, Motormaker Leland turned to automobiles, produced the first Cadillac in 1904, later sold out to General Motors Corp.
