The guy with the most riding on this game is Frankie Muniz, the star of FOX's TV comedy "Malcolm in the Middle." That's the show the network will air directly following the game, meaning Malcolm and his family will benefit from the same flood of extra viewers that helped CBS' "Survivor II: The Australian Outback" become the most popular entertainment program of 2001. James Willwerth reports from the trial: "Ito ruled that it was not relevant for jurors to hear Whitehurst saying he believed that Martz had altered lab results in another case, testimony the defense hoped to use to taint Martz' work...

Monday, Fredric Rieders, a forensic toxicologist, testified that the blood apparently contained EDTA, a chemical preservative used in crime analysis, which suggested that the blood could have been planted by someone with access to samples from the victims and the defendant. Today, FBI Special Agent Roger Martz -- who performed the analysis of the blood -- said Rieders essentially misrepresented his findings. "Those bloodstains did not come from preserved blood," Martz said under sharp questioning from defense attorney Robert Blasier. "I was able to prove that." But truth remains elusive:the defenseimpugned Agent Martz' objectivity, claiming that...
