Groping their way back from the mud, sleet, and icy blasts of the stormy south, three athletic teams returned to Cambridge last week from their spring trips, wondering about the directions of the compass, and about the games they did not play below the Mason-Dixon line. Practically everybody on the baseball, tennis, and lacrosse teams enjoyed themselves hugely, but the fact remains that the party was on the Athletic Association, who have sacrificed a good deal of money before the god of rain, and therefore have been unable to take care of some of the teams that are crying...
Sparks Sorlein '38 also held off all handicap-hippers in the 220. His time 22.2s, was better than could do the two other scratch men, Torbert MacDonald '40 and Tudor Richards '38 who placed second and third. Freshman Don Donahue beat Mason Fernald '40 in the 220 low hurdles who started at scratch with him. His time was 24.9s. Fernald, however, had had his victory in the high hurdles which he covered in the good time...
Heavy handicaps will be tagged on Mason Fernald in the high hurdles, Sparks Sorlein in the 100, Alex Northrop in the mile, Jim Lightbody in the 440, and John Erhard in the two-mile. Other members of the track team will he handicapped according to their respective conditions and past performances.
