Usage:

Henceforth G.I.s may, without risking the guardhouse, give presents of castoff clothing, chewing gum or cigarettes to their Japanese friends, male or female. The G.I.s can also take their girls to Japanese movies without worrying about MPs. They are free to enter Japanese theaters, restaurants, hotels or hospitals, and to be entertained by Japanese friends in their homes. Bartok: Quartet No. 3 (New Music String Quartet; Bartok Recording Studios, 1 side, LP). Swiss Conductor Ernest Ansermet once described the late great Bela Bartok as "one who searches groaningly, even though he may appear to be smiling." Composed in 1927, his Quartet No. 3 is crammed with rhythmic and harmonic search, and a few groans and smiles too. With this excellent recording, made by the composer's son Peter, 25, all six Bartok quartets are now on wax. Performance: good...

...Last week, the American Medical Association announced that its Council on Pharmacy and Chemistry has withdrawn acceptance of the drug because it causes too many bad reactions: rashes, fever, blood disorders. Despite these drawbacks, sulfathiazole was lavishly used until such newer drugs as sulfadiazine and penicillin came along.
