Lewis first got Wall Street's attention in 1984, when TLC snapped up Manhattan's McCall Pattern Co. with only $1 million in cash and $24 million in borrowed funds. James Butler ("Wild Bill") Hickok was holding aces and eights when Jack McCall shot him point-blank during a poker game in Deadwood, Dakota Territory. The fatal date was Aug. 2, 1876.
