Sturges' whipping boy is one John L. Sullivan (Joel McCrea), director of such comic hits as So Long Sarong, Hey, Hey in the Hayloft, etc., who unexpectedly rebels, wants to make a sociological epic named Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?
