Archduke Maximilian Eugene von Hohenberg of Habsburg, 56, younger brother of Charles Francis Joseph, last Emperor of Austria-Hungary; of a heart attack; at his home in exile, a hotel in Mce, France. Orphaned in 1914 when his mother and his father, Archduke Francis Ferdinand, were assassinated at Sarajevo -the spark that touched off World War I -Maximilian took command of an Austrian infantry battalion, won decorations for valor in fighting the Italians.
