...wouldn't, of course, be The WB without a couple of new teen soaps. "The Mountain" follows the lives and loves of two feuding brothers running a family ski resort. It comes from McG, producer of "The O.C." and features a lot of those extreme sports that the beverage commercials tell us the young kids like nowadays. Unfortunately, because of the title, it ended up making me think of "The Valley," the fake-soap-within-a-soap on "The O.C." Finally, for all of you who ever watched a WB soap and wondered, "Gee, I wonder what these characters will...

Superman has a better shot at cool in comic books than he does on the big screen. The new Superman movie--bogged down for years, partly because the studio can't get an actor to don the tights--is on its fourth director, McG (Charlie's Angels), but the lead role is still uncast. Jude Law, Brendan Fraser and Ashton Kutcher have been mentioned; Josh Hartnett has already turned it down. "We have to find Superman," says Dawn Taubin, president of domestic marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures. "That's a big, important piece of the puzzle...

Some women in both the testosterone and the placebo groups experienced side effects, such as headaches, acne and increased facial hair. --By Sora Song

...rest of us? Well, after The Matrix Reloaded and The Hulk, there's something refreshing about this movie's complete lack of intellectual pretense. No Freudian issues are explored. No reference is made to any philosophical systems, fashionable or not. Angels' director, McG, is one of those pop-culture polymaths, up out of music videos, who can refer to anything, from Dirty Harry to A Star Is Born, with casual aptness. And he knows how to refresh action-movie cliches without undue strain. Give this guy a script to direct instead of a structure to fill in, and he could...

That's why those fearless--or foolhardy--stunt folk aren't likely to be replaced by machines. "Stuntmen are more vital than ever to provide the impetus for the CG work," says McG. "In The Matrix Reloaded there's a lot of CG in the freeway chase, but that scene probably employed more stuntmen for a longer period than any action sequence in the history of cinema." Besides, CG is expensive. "Given the amount of time and money that it takes to get it right in the computer," says Jonathan Mostow, director of Terminator 3, "you might as well have...
