Peet '28. V.L. Hennessey '80 was the Harvard anchor man facing Captain C.B. Meagher, who gave everything he had for the engineers, cutting down the lead steadily as the bell sounded for the final lap. Feeling his rival at his shoulder Hennessey gave one last spurt, and crossed the line, defeating Meagher by about 12 inches. The race was run in 3 minutes...
Captain Tibbets was the first runner in this event, and ran away to a 40 yard lead over Kirwin, the Tech representative. He was followed by Haggerty, cross-country captain-elect, whose steady stride brought him ten yards further ahead of Meagher of M. I. T. Kane, the next University man, added another ten yards on Smith, who ran third for Tech. At this time it looked as if the race was to be a walkaway, but Laness, the Tech captain, running fourth, began on the first lap to make up the sixty yards conceded to Watters of the University...
...intercollegiate swimming records have been made by Yale men. In the Pennsylvania meet last week L. P. Thurston swam the 50-yard dash in 24 4-5 seconds, 1-5 of a second less than the former record, while R. H. Meagher lowered his former plunge record of 75 feet in 47 4-5 seconds by 4 1-5 seconds. The final score of this meet, which was the second on the Yale schedule, was Yale 38, Pennsylvania 15. Meagher established his new record in the first plunge...

Hopkins are doing well in the 220-yard swim, as are a very creditable string of divers in the fancy dive. In P. H. Meagher the Blue has another record-breaker, for as a plunger he has broken the intercollegiate record floating 75 feet--the entire length of the Carnegie Pool. N. T. Guernsey, the other entry in that event, has already covered 70 feet in practice this season...
Among last year's Eli Freshmen who are available are several notable swimmers. R. H. Meagher broke the plunge record last year by floating the entire distance of the tank; D. B. Gause, F. deP. Townsend, F. H. Cook, L. G. Neville, W. B. Schaffer, and C. D. Pratt are all available for the sprints, while A. Ferguson and N. T. Guernsey in the dive and plunge complete the list of formidable additions. Yale will have two matches each with the University, Columbia, Pennsylvania, New York City College, Princeton...
