This argument sets up a straw man and knocks it down. No one has proposed "speaking for" anyone else. No one has claimed the right to "bind" any dissenting member of the Harvard community, faculty or otherwise (unless it be the Harvard Corporation, which has meted out what many consider political punishment for some of last year's events).
