Dormitory rowing has been continued from year to year because it provides an easy means for a large number of men to take regular exercise, and because the scrub crews are all feeders for the University squad. Last fall the crews went badly because men failed to report regularly; if this obstacle is to be avoided in the season which opens on Monday more unity must be manifested. Men who fail to report with reasonable regularity and promptness not only lose their own exercise but they spoil the practice of others...

Since Monday there has been an improvement in the work of the second and third crews, but their rowing is not up to the standard. In the University crew the faults noticeable the first day on the river have not disappeared. The men still rush the slides, jerk at the catch and show a general unsteadiness. The individual work of the men in the first boat has been fairly good, but the crew rows as individuals and not as one man. The stern four are responsible for the tendency to rush the slides...

...handicap track meet held at the Brockton Fair yesterday afternoon, Harvard men secured three first, two second and a third place. G. P. Gardner '10 won both the 120-yard high hurdles and the 220-yard low hurdles. S. C. Lawrence '10 won the pole vault at 11 feet 2 inches, and R. Murray '12 and J. A. King '12 tied for third place. S. C. Lawrence '10 also secured second place in the high jump, but tied the winner in actual height, and broke the Brockton track record of 5 feet, 8 inches by two inches in the jump...
