...awarded Currier the break time last week, rejected the board’s argument and cited the potential for pain or medical injury from infection or breast engorgement if Currier were not given extra break time. “Such physical pain constitutes an unfair burden on the mental energies required for this examination,” he wrote in last week’s decision. That opinion overturned a ruling the week before by Judge Patrick F. Brady of Norfolk Superior Court, who ruled in favor of the Board. Zaroulis added that Currier would take the exam on October...

...What more universal activity is there for students? It builds endurance (chugging), teamwork (kegstands), and general fortitude (waking up the next morning). Can an afternoon with PBHA deliver those results? I think not. Also, is drinking really our number one problem? I figured that our number one problem was mental health. Harvard students are fucking crazy. The booze is only part of their coping method. So I guess we can all rest assured that, even though your decision might be final, your position as our Dean sure isn’t! Hugs, Jack P.S. Come to my party next weekend...

Henry James’s “The Portrait of a Lady” saved me from a mental ulcer. The Crimson’s books editor hates Henry James. I believe his exact statement to me, while discussing the venerable author, was “Ew.” I admit, the prose style is a little dusty, and James certainly takes his sweet time unspooling his stories. But I had an appetite, and he just hit the spot. My spring academic schedule was the intellectual equivalent of a triple-shot espresso. I took my first timid sips...
