Harvard geneticist Philip Leder cites many common diseases -- hyper-tension, allergies, diabetes, heart disease, mental illness and some (perhaps all) cancers -- that have a genetic component. History shows that genetic misinformation can be severely damaging. Take, for example, the supposed link between the XYY chromosome pattern and criminal behavior.
