...images deceive. Harvard's women are Harvard women, and whether or not one accepts the notion of Radcliffe as a mere institutional anachronism, the fact remains that most women here do not think of themselves as attending Radcliffe College. Therefore, despite the smiling faces of women in Quad Houses and scenes of women doing everything from rowing to building snow sculptures, we realize that we are really viewing only a segment of Harvard. And it is not really even a segment, for slides of men, River Houses, and Harvard Square are almost as common as those of contented Quad women...
...shame that in its tribute to Radcliffe's centennial the Radcliffe Class of '79, the sponsors of the event, could not shed some light on the nature of a very complex entity. ...silver screen heroes, and the similarities between the two films do not end there. There is the same low-budget feel to "Saturday Night Fever"--the obscure director, in this case a fellow named John Badham who seems bent on dazzling his audiences with bizarre camera angles when the mere sight of Travolta on a dance floor would have been enough; and the same schmaltz-filled discovery of love, in this case--Tony's ultimately Platonic crush on a fellow Brooklynite (Karen Lyyn Gorney) trying to elbow her way onto the promised island of fame and fortune on the other...
...team, that said it all. The linksters couldn't keep their heads down on the greens of the Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, R.I., and as a result, finished third in a tri-meet with UMass and Providence. The Minutemen triumphed with a 477 score, with the Friars a mere stroke back at 478 and the Crimson four back...
