...readers on a journey of journaling under trees, diet battles won and lost, manic depression diagnoses, multiple suicide attempts, Prozac and a pregnancy during which the author eats “onion rings the size of bracelets.” Is she an ectomorph who eats to live, a mesomorph who eats and lives, or an endomorph who lives to eat? Oh the traumas of the mind in biology class. Sounds more like Judy Blume writing her own version of Prozac Nation than Sylvia Plath’s prose...

...score so often (an average of two goals every three games), Bobby Hull would still be fearsome. There is not one ounce of excess baggage on his 5-ft. 10-in., 195-lb. frame; physiologists have called him "the perfect mesomorph." He is the fastest skater in the N.H.L. (28.3 m.p.h. with the puck, 29.7 m.p.h. without), and by far the fastest shot: his "slap shot," delivered from a full windup, has been clocked at 118.3 m.p.h., nearly 35 m.p.h. above the league average, and his "wrist shot," fired with just a flick of the stick, zings along...

...imminent arrival of the Caped Crusader. Hordes of people who recalled Bob Kane's comicbook creation as well as the 1943 movie serial (TIME, Nov. 26) pushed their toddlers out of the way to get a good look at the TV set. Among other things, they saw a mesomorph in cape and cowl expostulate: "My own parents were murdered by dastardly criminals" and "I'll stand at the bar-I shouldn't wish to attract attention," while Batman's sidekick, Robin, a wide-eyed adolescent, stood at the ready with such replies as "Gleeps!," "Holy barracuda...

...Chicago Black Hawks' Bobby Hull has been called the "perfect muscular mesomorph." He is the National Hockey League's Most Valuable Player, its fastest skater (upward of 23 m.p.h.) and hardest shooter (his lefthanded slap shot rockets toward the net at 118 m.p.h.). Goalies complain that getting in the way of a Bobby Hull shot is "like being slugged with a sledge hammer," and practically everybody agrees with Montreal's Claude Provost that Hull is "the strongest guy in hockey." He even looks mean when he smiles, because he is missing his three front teeth...
