Another instance of this lack on the part of '95 of really enthusiastic interest in class athletics occurred last night when the captain of the 'varsity crew met the candidates for the freshman boat. Only sixty-three men appeared as candidates. Now in Ninety-three's freshman year over one hundred men presented themselves at this first meeting, and last year the number was largely in excess of the number which came out last night. ...Intercollegiate Lawn Tennis Association was formed in 1883, and delegates met at Hartford from Amherst, Brown, and Trinity colleges. When the constitution was formed, Yale was admitted, and invitations to join sent to Harvard and Williams. The first championship tournament was held Oct. 9, 1883, at Hartford.
