When you think of maple syrup, whose 2009 season is just now wrapping up, the first image that pops into your mind is probably a huge tree trunk with a few metal buckets strapped on. Maybe you picture workhorses slogging through the snow, a sleigh laden with tree sap in tow. Maybe there's a little wooden shack with a chimney emitting a plume of steam. What you might not picture are the dollar signs many are seeing around this surging agricultural commodity - maple syrup producers are celebrating high yields and record retail prices this year. Each mother ship works with four or five attack vessels, which are not unlike WWII PT boats, but are made of light-weight metal or composite instead of wood. Each of these has to run on two or more turbo diesels which put out 480 HP at 3,000 PRM. These are not engines which are likely to be used on any of the hijacked ships so they are probably one of the largest direct costs the pirates have. ...With War,” the lyrics read as impassioned, sincere, but largely unpolished and impromptu ravings. Songs like “Johnny Magic” may have momentary relevance, but they sometimes seem like little more than soapbox speeches: “In the form of a heavy metal Continental / She was born to run a proud highway,” sings Young. The songs lack the timeless wisdom and emotional vulnerability that we know Young is capable of, and attempting to excuse superficiality by defending the album as a fun one is futile. There?...

...Cambridge Queen’s Head Pub opened the felt-rope entrance to its new outdoor patio yesterday afternoon under clear skies and in the midst of warm weather, a rarity of late. A cluster of round metal tables and chairs, sectioned off with rope, in front of the Pub’s outside entrance comprise the new seating area. Although it currently seats just over twenty, Pub Manager Joshua P. Woodruff ’11 said there is still room to expand. Both indoors and outside, students and administrators enjoyed the celebration at the Pub. Associate Dean...
