...smeared iron oxide on a cavern wall at Altamira, in north Spain. Cunningly he had fashioned a lively bison, with a fine high hump, muscular forelegs, a head set well enough to do justice to contemporary Animal Artist John Raltenbury Skeaping (TIME, May 3). In Khotsa Cave, 5,000 mi. from Spain in Basutoland, South Africa, Anthropologist Frobenius found the Altamira bison's twin. The long-legged silhouet of a wildly running bowman found at Saltadora, Spain was duplicated in Basutoland at Bogati Hill; other parallelisms or derivatives sprang up time after time...

Though almost all its traffic and trade are eastwest, Denver has only a north-south airline. To get to either coast a Denverite has a choice of flying north for 97 mi. on Wyoming Air Service to Cheyenne and United Air Lines' transcontinental route or south for 419 mi. on Wyoming Air Service and Varney Air Transport to catch TWA at Albuquerque. TWA and others protested violently, but Wyoming Air, the sole system which would be directly hurt, offered no objection because of an agreement with United. Last week, to everyone's surprise, Post Office Solicitor Karl A. Crowley decided in favor of the petition...

...week for a meeting of the American Geophysical Union, the worst magnetic storm in a century. This in turn was due to a great magnetic storm which swept across the face of the sun four days earlier and sent a gust of electric corpuscles toward the earth at 270 mi. per sec. Such violent sun storms will probably recur every 27 days (time for the sun to revolve once) until some time in 1939. That year will mark a height of solar activity which recurs every 23 years...
