Among the earlier cuts are a few from the 16th century by Durer and Holbein. The work of Durer is represented by the "St. Michael" from the "Apocalypse" series and by two examples from the "Life of the Virgin" series. Holbein is represented by a series of cuts called "The Dance of Death." The Fogg Museum is the possessor of one of the six known complete sets of the proofs of this series.
