This lack of passion keeps you clean. Student politics is farcical. It is left to former Midwestern student council presidents. There are causes and causes. Issues come and go. You cluck your tongue or nod your head. Eisenhower was dull and stupid; Kennedy had style, you know; the Cuban invasion was bad; the Dominican Republic bit was ridiculous; join the Peace Corps; the Poverty Program should at least be given a chance. And so on and on. Many of us don't sign petitions because, well, what of our political careers...
Rampage of Death. For Lieut. Colonel Ojukwu and his Ibos, the beginning of the end came, oddly enough, partly as the result of a considerable initial victory. Last August, in a lightning attack, Ojukwu's forces swept westward out of Biafra and captured Nigeria's oil-rich Midwestern state. Just before the Midwestern Governors' Conference opened at Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks last week, Romney announced that he will spend this month touring the nation's cities, postponing his expeditions to Europe and Viet Nam until later this year...
More versatile with their press releases than they have yet been with their guns, the commanders of Major General Yakubu Gowon's federal army of Nigeria shrugged off the recent loss of their country's Midwestern Region. The unexpected victory of the rebel Biafrans from the east was only "a temporary setback." When the Biafrans penetrated the Western Region as far as the crossroads town of Ore last week, Gowon's spokesmen called it "the last desperate move of the rebels before their total collapse...
