...Like the view of Shanghai, many of Delano's China photographs, on exhibit in November at La Triennale di Milano Museum in Milan, Italy, use the tools of the darkroom to make a familiar scene eerie or allegorical. Delano shoots in black and white, but he prints in black and gray. His photos look as if they've been rubbed with charcoal and might smudge if touched.
