...Best Actor egregiously leaves out Jim Carrey's performance in Man on the Moon in favor of Sean Penn in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown, an omission that stings slightly less than if they had nominated Tom Hanks for The Green Mile. ...Nothing broadcasts this reality more clearly than the curtain that hangs twenty aisles away from me. On the other side of that curtain is seated the privileged few; the mile-high club, as it were.
