...history buffs out there, the Minuteman Trail allows you to create your own mini-Revolutionary War reenactment. Rest assured, though, a little less will be at stake than when Paul Revere made this journey in 1775. This 11-mile path through Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford closely mirrors the route of Revere’s legendary ride. Popular with young and old alike, the flat paved walkway follows the former tracks of the since closed Lexington & West Cambridge Railroad. It’s a scenic but shaded path, with some history to complement a leisurely trip that’s accessible...
...seven-year old son. She was thrilled to be leaving Russia after having suffered the wearying expense of expatriate living, the oppressive politesse required by her regular engagements at the Tsar’s imperial court, and six years of seemingly endless winters. "It's really beautiful...
Philanthropic dollars are seeding the reinvention of Detroit. Demographer Kurt Metzger heads up Data Driven Detroit (DDD), an agency that just completed a plot-by-plot analysis of the city's 139-square-mile footprint, without which Griffin would be flying blind. DDD is backed by $1.85 million from the Kresge and Skillman foundations. Robert Bobb, emergency financial manager for the Detroit public schools, draws one-third of his $425,000 salary from an alliance of philanthropies led by the Eli Broad Foundation. And if all goes according to plan, Detroit will break ground this year on a trolley line...
