...find the best machine? Easy: I ask my geek friends. For the past few years, they've all said the same thing: the Millennia, from Micron Electronics. And they're right. I bought my first Millennia two years ago and a second this year, ordering through the micronpc.com website. It's the king of PCs. The machine is solid--no tinny clicks and clatters when it does its microprocessing--and it never fails, no matter how much junk...
...have but one nit to pick with Micron. A few months ago, I had occasion to call the 24-hour toll-free support line on behalf of my older Millennia. The machine came with Windows 95; naturally, I updated to Windows 98 as soon as I could. But now the Micron help guy said he wasn't allowed to support it--the machine had been "altered." This is a hugely cheesy way to treat customers. Still, even if you plan on altering it, a Millennia Max, with a 450-MHz Pentium II chip that's even faster than mine...

To the suggestion that homosexuality ought to be approved and embraced, the starchy traditionalist might reasonably reply: "Thanks, but heterosexuality as the sole acceptable form of sexual expression has been working out tolerably well over the past couple of millennia--I think that we ought to stick with what we know." The best way to address this argument is to prove beyond a doubt that homosexual union is a viable, albeit heretofore unexplored, version of virtuous living. Even the crustiest nostalgist will be forced to relent in the face...
Presumably, the Red Sox will fall short of the World Series as they have seemingly done for millennia. Will service be speedy enough when a vintage edition of Home Run Derby (e.g., Harmon Killebrew vs. Frank Robinson) is on ESPN instead of playoff baseball? Will Home Run Derby devotees (my roommate among them) be able to cope, knowing that Fly-By will not be fast enough for them to hear the habitual recounting of the rules at the very start of the broadcast. All we can do is hope that the Red Sox go all the way and delay consideration...
...Christian heritage (and consequently much of Christian liturgy) implicitly blame Jews for the events of the Gospels. Both he and Carroll traced a connection between this unavoidable implication and the history of anti-Semitism in Western and especially German culture that has more or less continuously marked two millennia of Christian tradition...
