...being tested is a benzodiazepine compound called Midazolam; it induces deep sleep for short periods (90 min. at most) and might be an alternative to general anesthesia in surgery. Another drug, called only No. 5057, could improve memory and other mental functions by allowing more oxygen to reach brain cells.
