Genocide: Although Wilson is not wrong in suggesting that genocide could be of selective advantage, I feel that he has misread the anthropological evidence on this point. Most of his examples of genocide come from relatively complex societies with social stratification. Unequal struggles between prestate societies seem rather rarely to have been followed by extinction of an entire breeding population or local group.
