...part of the Kyoto deal, the E.U. agreed to lower greenhouse gas emission levels by 8% below 1990 levels between 2008 and 2012. But legislation alone won't bring emissions down: E.U. levels crept up in 2001 for the second straight year, and most member states are forecast to miss the Kyoto targets. "With current trends, we could not reach our goals," says a Commission source. "More efforts are needed." ...distilled illustrations of the many facets of the reunification, some of which shine much brighter than others. He does not fall into the trap of romanticizing the past at the expense of historical fact; his characters cherish their new conveniences and freedom of expression, and don’t miss the panoptic party structure of socialism. ...what they are currently writing and performing. It’s both frustrating and affirming to know that people all over the world and from all different eras have had the same ideas you’ve had or are thinking the same things. I’ll really miss being around all of this, where so many ideas just float around...
