Usage:

Singularly clear and simple in quality, the humor of the Lampoon is so carefully annotated that it can be enjoyed by any child of ordinary attainments. The joke on the front page, for example, is good, but no one must be allowed to miss it; therefore we find a line of italics clamoring for attention. All danger of losing the point is in this way cleverly avoided.
