The Governor of the State makes a speech at the Mission, in which he praises brotherly love and help of the unfortunate. Joe claims the Governor as his brother. The latter part of the play is a conflict of the Governor between the dignity of his office and the claim of the drunkard, in which finally the Governor accepts Joe as his brother...
