Shortly before Viktor Yushchenko announced that Yuliya Tymoshenko was his choice for Prime Minister, Ukraine's President met with his controversial political ally and gave her a simple message. Tymoshenko would have to work hard to overcome the dislike and mistrust many Ukrainians, especially in the Russian-speaking east, feel for her; she'd have to win over opposing factions in parliament; and she'd have to do it on her own.
