Researchers at Tokyo University are pursuing an even more ambitious goal. Working under Iwao Fujimasa, an artificial-heart specialist, a team of 20 scientists is building a robot less than 1 mm (0.045 in.) in diameter that could travel through veins and inside organs, locating and treating diseased tissue. The group hopes to build a prototype within three years for testing on a horse, but the researchers first must obtain gears, screws and other parts 1,000 times smaller than the tiniest available today...
...news show Mundo Vision, and anchorwoman Ximena Godoy, 20, had just finished a Sunday broadcast. As Pulido halted his cream Renault sedan at a stoplight two blocks from the government-owned Inravision studios, a man waiting on a red Suzuki motorcyle dismounted and opened fire. His lines of communication were greatly extended in 1935 when the Associated Press inaugurated its first Wirephoto transmission service...

This group of 800 officers and men has 90% of the P.D.F.'s firepower -- including 120-mm mortars, rocket launchers and armored personnel carriers -- and many of its troops are Cuban-trained. Ultimately, it was units from Battalion 2000 that retook the headquarters and freed Noriega...
