Computer worms and viruses can dig through the files on your hard drive. VBS.Noped.A@mm invades computers and searches for child pornography. If it finds picture files with suspect-sounding names, it notifies the police and e-mails some of the files to them--and sends copies of itself to addresses in the victim's e-mail address book. A big problem with Noped, in addition to the privacy concerns: it's often wrong...

...when over the horizon came the throbbing of huge horsepower, more powerful than anything normally found in the waters off the Philippines' rugged western Palawan province. The speedboat had no lights; only when it pulled alongside, its rolling wake slapping his wooden outrigger, did Cervantes see the 50-mm cannon rigged on the bows, the 24 men in jungle fatigues and balaclavas, the M-16s pointed at his chest. At the insistence of Harland Braun, the criminal lawyer retained by Blake after the murder, the police have also carted away three steamer trunks, five boxes and six suitcases of Bakley's documents, photos and recordings. "She was a pack rat," said Braun. "She kept every document involved with her." ...Mm-hm. Sure, NBC is currently leading the season among the advertiser-prized 18-49 demographic. But it's also under siege on various fronts, not least CBS's attack on its Must-See Thursday empire, which but for the grace of the colossal bomb "Big Apple" it would have lost altogether. And there was that little matter of the XFL. What's more, Zucker and other NBC execs have long acknowledged the network needs to build successful new comedies. So why was it launching the season with a paltry eight on the schedule (canceling "DAG," "The Fighting Fitzgeralds...
