...modern language conference held in Sever 11 yesterday afternoon was conducted by Professor Child. He stated that the departments of modern languages in the college intend to hold a number of these conferences in the coming year. The papers to be read at these meetings will be the result of special investigation on literary subjects, not necessarily very complicated, but interesting to the general body of students. Under Group I a course of Wednesday evening lectures will be given in Sever 11 by Professor Royce during the first half year on the History and Problems of Modern Philosophy. A course somewhat similar to Phil. 2 at present, will be conducted by Prof. Palmer in Logic. by Dr. Santayana in Psychology and by Prof. James in Metaphysics. ...first meeting of the Modern Language Conference will be held this afternoon and ought to attract a large audience. The conference is a new enterprise. undertaken by the instructors in the departments of English, German, French and Romance Philology. Its object is to present to the public papers prepared by students in advanced courses in these departments.
