...liberal elites are obviously creatures of a devilishly fiendish intelligence, since they have succeeded in maintaining power over our democracy while discriminating against almost every citizen of the nation. The United States is perhaps the most religious of modern nations, with somewhere from 90 to 95 percent of its citizens believing in a God or some universal spirit, and over three quarters believing that God listens to their prayers. Depending on the estimate, 80 to 90 percent of Americans are Christian, with a similar percentage of seats in Congress and state legislatures belonging to Christians. Yet the anti-religious liberals...

There is an educational component to the show it wants to trace the evolution of modern Christmas festivities from the reign of Queen Victoria Before, Revels has looked at the winter solstice in Meso-America, Brittany, and among the gypsy people. Still, I don't understand. Am I missing something? Why am I not impressed by a boy who skips from one side to the other of a broomstick laid on the stage (stepping on it at one point, I might add), in the aptly named "Broom Dance." There was an a cappella duet of a chilling minor tone that...

Carter had a restless mind that absorbed almost anything that came his way. Every President has more work than he can do. Carter may have come closer than any other modern President to mastering his schedule. He got up at 5:30 am. to get at his agenda when he was at home in the White House. ...year-old Britney Spears' first album feels like the opposite of adolescence: the songs are mostly slick and remote, steering away from anything that's too deeply felt. The title track is cuddly, though, and already a hit single. A few of her songs, including the pleasantly modern ballad E-Mail My Heart, indeed deliver a sugar high, and may well win over the very same crowd that goes for tot-pop acts like the Spice Girls and Brandy. But ultimately not enough of this album excites, involves or surprises. Like youth itself, the pleasures of this debut are fleeting...

...hasn't been contemporized, stars neither Gwyneth Paltrow nor Ethan Hawke and features no recordings by Tori Amos. Yet this three-part, six-hour adaptation of Charles Dickens' last completed novel succeeds in seeming terribly modern. Considered by many critics to be the author's finest work, Our Mutual Friend takes a look at the perversions of capitalism in mid-19th century London through two parallel love stories. Suspenseful, subtly rendered and well acted (with an especially compelling performance by Steven Mackintosh as John Harmon, a wealthy young man trying to conceal his identity), this Masterpiece Theatre production should...
