...array of different types, but the only such theory in science. Like any scientific theory, it can't explain how every aspect of every organism came to be, but each time scientists find new evidence-fossils of dinosaurs bearing feathers; fossils of the mammals whose descendants are whales; the molecular structure DNA that carries traits from one generation to the next; the mutations that can alter DNA to introduce new traits-the case for Darwin's theory has gotten stronger...

...media. That is what I call quality journalism. Morena Nannetti Munich I was inspired by your articles on "Global Health" and your profiles of heroes from around the world who fight diseases in the poorest countries. The selection was impressive. Since I'm working on a Ph.D. in molecular biology, I wish you had included someone doing not just clinical but basic biological research on deadly diseases. The interview with Bill and Melinda Gates indicated that very little is being done by governments to help create drugs for diseases in poor countries, which makes me curious about what is happening...

Back in Seattle, though, the Gateses show less patience. They run the foundation like a business. They are remarkably fluent in the science of public health ("I suspect Bill Gates knows more about the molecular biology of mosquitoes than 95% of the doctors in the world," says Kim). And both use the language of business to describe the human experience. "There is no better return on investment than saving the life of a newborn," Melinda told reporters at a November press conference...

...affiliated with Harvard Medical School, according to the school’s website. And Dana-Farber has been rated the fourth best hospital for cancer care in the country by U.S. News & World Report for five straight years. Rollins also said that an assistant professor of biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard Medical School, Jarrod A. Marto, has been hired to direct the new center. One of Dana-Farber’s top proteomics experts, John Quackenbush, a professor of biostatics and computational biology, said his team of researchers at the institute is already analyzing large-scale data...
