SHORTS OR TINIES? It seems the International Volleyball Federation, which regulates indoor volleyball, is tired of being the dowdy sister to beach volleyball. The federation's new uniform standards went into effect this month. Women's shirts "must follow the body line," say the regulations. And women's shorts "must be tight in waist and length," with a maximum inseam of 5 cm and "cut in at least a 30[degrees] angle toward the top of the leg." No ruling on tans...
...part to their long-standing relationship with the Dominican Republic's politicians. Through a subsidiary, Central Romana Ltd., the brothers grow sugar cane and operate the world's largest sugar mill there. Doctors can view digital images captured by silicon sensors just three seconds after they are taken, as opposed to waits as long as 30 min. with traditional X rays...
...central claim -- that you can't regulate an industry that turns topsy-turvy in a heartbeat. Meanwhile, such a deal couldn't come at a better time for Netscape, which has been struggling financially for three quarters but has seen its stock more than double in the past month. Antitrust, it seems, can be very good for business...
