BOSTON--House and Senate negotiators met privately yesterday to work out differences on a $350 million savings package aimed at reducing Massachusetts' budget deficit, which the administration of Gov. Michael S. Dukakis has pegged at more than $800 million.
The savings package included several items that have encountered opposition from public employee unions, including a provision that would require state and municipal workers to contribute more toward their health insurance premiums.
He said other Yugoslav travelers reported seeing more bodies in Timisoara after security forces dispersed the largest anti-government protests since a protest by 10,000 workers at Brasov in 1987.
The report, based in part on previously secret government documents, indicates that federal officials knew more about such health dangers than has been acknowledged, and that decisions were made to keep workers in the dark.
More than 600,000 people have worked at the weapons plants over the last 45 years.
