...last week-that the S.A. give Hokanson a vote of no confidence and ask him to resign. Not surprisingly the emotion is sponsored by the anti-war petition's publicity director, David Baxendale whose efforts to get good press coverage went completely unrealized. Many S.A. member have taken careful mote of Hokanson's actions and, bolstered by unfavorable student reaction to him, might pass a vote of no confidence and ask Hokanson to resign...
...what we do whenever we try to "make a decision based on the data." One must give up trying to isolate cause and effect, and see that the process of the universe is an infinitely complex one, that every particle -- including one's consciousness -- is part of every other mote. If you see this, if you can intuit the flow of the universe -- for it is in you as you are in it -- and make yourself one with the flow, then you will stand apart from the illusion of "cause and effect." ...Damnation. The latest to pro mote a soft line on contraception are the hierarchies of Austria, Britain and Canada which released statements last week. In "The Documentary Sublime" Stuart Davis offers a total assessment...
...subtle genius of Chaplin's tramp or of Keaton's mote in the eye of an incomprehensible universe lay beyond the range of Laurel and Hardy. But they were lovable caricatures of the dolt in Everyman, a bow and fiddle striking delightfully dissonant chords in a mad world. Witless innocence was their hallmark. It purifies even a 20's sequence in which they are pursued, clad in underdrawers, by a pair of gorgon wives toting a shotgun to avenge some fancied infidelity-as they round the corner of an apartment house, a shotgun blast brings dozens...
