...piece of music, its bold conception is admirable. Its principal motives were admirably brought out by the orchestra. The last number on the programme was Haydn's Oxford Symphony which was exceedingly delicately and conscientiously rendered. The beautiful quality of the strings was especially noticeable in the first Adagio movement and was not lacking in the well known Menuetto. The phrasing of the oboe was not what it might have been, but with this exception no other unfavorable criticism can be made...
