...Varsity management for an inter-Freshman contest. It has been thought for some time that Freshman teams would be materially bettered, were it possible to keep the whole squad in training throughout the season, and the offering of these cups is an attempt at carrying out this movement. At present the only hindrance to the furtherance of this project is the limited space available for Freshman football...

Following out the movement started several years ago, to present to the University some sort of memorial of Bishop Brooks' religious work at Harvard, the committee who were placed in charge of the matter have urged the work along very successfully and have recently received most attractive and excellent plans for the memorial building which is to be called "Brooks House." These plans which were drawn by Mr. A. W. Langfellow are now in the hands of the Corporation who will probably approve them soon. He has shown rather conclusively that a movement toward athletic reform lies not in a reorganization of our social system, nor in the proposed plan of disintegration into smaller colleges which Mr. Corbin, after a year or two at Oxford, advocates strongly, but rather in a greater unity and a broader sympathy among all undergraduates, inspired not alone by the hope of athletic success...

This summer the position of the clubhouse will be changed slightly, to make room for the Charles River improvements, and in addition to the fact that the front will then be parallel to the river, the float facilities will be increased. A movement is on foot, supported by Professor Ames and several graduates, including Messrs. Bancroft, Dana, and Storrow, to secure the appointment of a regular instructor in rowing, who shall hold the same position in regard to rowing affairs that Mr. Lathrop holds in regard to other branches of athletics...
