Mayor Bancroft spoke at some length in encouraging the movement. He gave as some of his reasons the fact that examinations were omitted on June merely in order that the students might join the parade, and also the fact all members of the University owed it to themselves and to the graduates to show sufficient enthusiasm to aid the Harvard men who are at the head of the affair.
