...first, we commend the College for their decision to allow upperclass students to move into their houses a full week before registration. We appreciated the temporary housing provided for various student organizations, the two dining halls accessible for breakfast and lunch and the flexibility of a full week to move into our dorms--a consistently horrific experience that guarantees a few battle stories each year. Unfortunately, though, the horror stories from this year's move in will be a bit more copious than in years past...
...food that is actually fresh--cooked right before your very eyes. Best of all, the new kitchen layouts eliminate messy pile-ups. There are no more Annenberg-esque elbowfests to get to the drink machines, and extra countertop space ensures that you can put down your tray as you move through each station without blocking the person behind you. ...anything, this move is an admission of failure on the College to provide an attractive House community post-randomization and a belated attempt to remedy the error by decree. If students want to make new friends after freshman year, they can, regardless of blocking group size. Eliminating choice is not the answer...
