THERE is an old abuse existing at the Library which needs Mr. Winsor's immediate attention; certain books are not allowed to be taken from the shelves. Occasionally, one's card is returned with an ominous-looking blue star marked on it, which means that the book will not be given out. The Librarian, in his Report, favors increasing the access of the students to the books; the abolition of this silly restriction on our privileges should be one of the first steps in that direction. There is no good reason for refusing a student the use of a book...

It certainly shows a commendable amount of enterprise and activity on the part of such a young society to have made arrangements already for giving three lectures, and to have secured such good lecturers. Mr. Edward Atkinson is a practical business man of large experience, and has collected much interesting information upon the subject which he has chosen. The names of Professors Sumner and Walker are familiar to everybody, and the positions which they hold at Yale will doubtless secure them a warm welcome here...
...news of the insanity of Mr. Anton Leister has reached us. Mr. Leister was last year a member of the Class of '80, and was formerly a member of the Class of '79. He was well known as a brilliant scholar, and his misfortune is the result of overwork. This calamity brings forcibly to our minds the sad cases of last year, and once more suggests the danger to which our most ambitious students are liable.
