...Mr. Copeland's third lecture was given in Sever 11 yesterday afternoon on "Oliver Goldsmith." In describing Goldsmith's life, Mr. Copeland pictured various characteristic scenes, and told anecdotes which brought out his special Celtic attributes of sensibility, humor, and kindliness. These characteristics are also to be seen in his most famous works, as "The Deserted Village," "She Stoops to Conquer," and "The Vicar of Wakefield." From these works Mr. Copeland read a few passages to show that Goldsmith was just passing out of the classic period of English literature...

This evening the Harvard Natural History Society is to celebrate its sixtieth anniversary by a special meeting in the Fogg Art Museum at 8 p. m. Professor Shaler will give an address on the history of the society, and Mr. William T. Hornaday of the New York Zoological Society, will deliver a lecture on "The Preservation of our Native Animals."
