Its parent company, Time Warner (which is also TIME's parent), announced it will present a new plan for AOL on Aug. 2. ...Unlike its predecessors, this Sidekick lets you sign onto AIM and Yahoo and MSN messenger simultaneously, and hop back and forth from message to message. For e-mail, Yahoo, Gmail and others can be loaded into the Sidekick's e-mail program, although Hotmail can only be retrieved through the device's web browser. The browser, incidentally, left me unimpressed - especially with the chaotic way it rendered such important sites as MySpace, IMDB and Time.com. ...Although the Q satisfied my e-mail needs, I was less happy with its desktop-type instant-messaging options. Unless you use MSN, you have to download a third-party application such as Agile Messenger, which is still buggy. T-Mobile pre-loads a solid messaging application in its newest smartphone, the SDA, and I wish Verizon did the same.
