Werts does have some reasonable criticism of fan mentality. He notes that "`Sell Out' [from Turn the Radio Off] was making fun of kids who condemned No Doubt and Sublime for selling out. You see No Doubt and Sublime on MTV and hear them on the radio. You shouldn't not like bands simply because they're on the radio. You should be happy that good bands get played on the radio so you can listen to good stuff instead of the crap they usually put on." ...maturity and subtlety in his comedic acting. The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member seemed to put away his old repertoire of invisible penguins, fist-fights with Bob Barker and Lunch Lady Land in exchange for a sensitively humorous side, winning the "Best Kiss" with Drew Barrymore at the MTV Awards. The video for the song Outside, which MTV plans to debut this Wednesday, features a public bathroom morphing into a disco as Michael, dressed as a policeman, sings of the pleasures of alfresco sex while dancing with a harem of underattired women. The video was shot 15 miles from the Beverly Hills, Calif., park where the singer was arrested last April. It seems the judge who sentenced him possessed a slightly less evolved...
